iEMPOW3R recently supported a group of talented young women meet their fundraising goals, and had the pleasure of seeing them perform this weekend at Edinburgh Fringe!

Also, check out ‘Bulldog’ by Josh Baulf, ‘Sounds Like’ hosted by Doc Brown and ‘One Way Out’ by No Table Productions on our behalf whilst visiting the festival. We spent time taking in the city views, and an incredible nature drive! Scotland is beautiful!

Note - Dugsi Dayz is now a published piece of work, so please do support these young women and cop a copy! And they’re back in London in October, learn more below.

iEMPOW3R - UK Creatives and Small Business Spotlight 〰️

In recent years, iEMPOW3R and collaborators have:

  • Delivered community initiatives, such as our iWrite project, our annual creative writing competition for young people, which was self-funded in the first year (1 winner, 3 runners up, 100+ participants) and supported by Arnold Clark in subsequent years (13 young people won prizes)

  • Participated and volunteered at sport community events for young people (GG3x3 basketball) and minority women empowerment and business events (Black Female Entrepreneur Greenwich) led by established charities

  • Supported a small number of families with access to a vendor that provides free Maths and Science tuition services (if interested, see further information < HERE > they connect you to tutors and provide UK-wide online/in-person tuition services)

  • Delivered ad-hoc competitions and giveaways for young people

  • Made small investments in theatre, film and creative projects led by women and girls (e.g. Dugsi Dayz (UK), Plant People (U.S.))

  • Made ad-hoc donations to the homeless and UK-based food banks; also raising awareness to critical global crisis and emergencies

  • Spotlighted cross-generational women professionals from minority backgrounds, sharing their learnings, career paths and guidance for younger generations through our iGEN project

  • Provided a platform for women writers, authors and poets to perform at events (two international women’s day events) and write articles for our platform based on topics and causes they’re passionate about (iJournal project)

  • Participated, contributed to and amplified a number of UK Black History Month and African / Caribbean-focused community events

  • Offered and provided ad-hoc technical support to charities and small businesses (e.g. digitally enabling a market trader with their own e-com site)

  • Amplified small businesses and the works of minority communities both here in the UK and abroad

  • Built a small business and creative platform NASO @ Home - nasoathome.co; leveraged some of the learnings to support minority communities in digital, ecommerce and marketing skills and capability development (shared insights through attendance at multiple professional and community events)

Nike Kobe A.D. Multicolor Giveaway

We asked participants, who their biggest inspiration was.

Here, our lucky winner (who is also a hooper!) said Michael Jordan was his biggest inspiration. MJ once shared a message, that he learnt never to give up after failing, and its this that made him successful. As a basketball player, our winner said this resonated with him, to keep going!

Well done, and keep hooping!

We’ve also been giving out a number of Wilson basketballs…
